Journals of trans-regional history
The Medieval Globe
The Medieval Globe welcomes submissions from scholars of Mongol Studies, as well as proposals or ideas for future thematic issues that would focus attention on this field and its centrality to medieval studies, generally.
TMG is a peer-reviewed journal launched in November 2014 with a special issue on the Black Death as a global pandemic. It explores modes of communication, materials of exchange, and myriad interconnections among regions, communities, and individuals in an era central to human history while encouraging the development and sharing of portable research methods and approaches. Key areas interest include:
+ the direct and indirect means by which peoples, goods, and ideas came into contact
+ the deep roots of global developments and processes
+ the ways in which perceptions of the medieval past have been (and are) constructed around the world.
The Medieval Globe is published biannually by Arc-Humanities Press, with digital issues available via Project MUSE Thematic issues, developed by guest editors, usually alternate with miscellanies of select articles submitted for consideration on a rolling basis. All thematic issues are also available in The Medieval Globe Books series.

Medieval Worlds
The peer-reviewed open access journal Medieval Worlds provides a forum for comparative, interdisciplinary and transcultural studies of the Middle Ages. Its aim is to overcome disciplinary boundaries, regional limits and national research traditions in Medieval Studies, to open up new spaces for discussion, and to help developing global perspectives. We focus on the period from c. 400 to 1500 CE but do not stick to rigid periodization. medieval worlds is open to submissions of broadly comparative studies and matters of global interest, whether in single articles, companion papers, smaller clusters, or special issues on a subject of global/comparative history. We particularly invite studies of wide-ranging connectivity or comparison between different world regions. Apart from research articles, medieval worlds publishes ongoing debates and project and conference reports on comparative medieval research.
Medieval Worlds is published semiannually on 1 July and 1 December by the Institute for Medieval Research at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Publishing in Medieval Worlds is free of charge.
